Our next stop the Lauterbrunnen Valley.  We were definitely looking forward to seeing the Alps.

Beaune to Switzerland
Beaune - Burgundy country - Day 3 - May 30
We stayed at the
Hotel des
Ramparts in the
village center.
The courtyard in
the middle
provided a nice
plact to meet
and eat.
The next morning we drove into Switzerland.  Early
in the morning, Colleen had gone to the market to
buy items for lunch, but alas, we could not find a
place to picnic!  We were about ready to give up
and eat in the bus, when we came to a rest stop
with breathtaking views. There were picnic tables
and a view of a castle on the mountainside.  Within
minutes, our full-of-surprises tour guide invited us
to the large fold-up table kept in the bottom of the
bus.  What an incredible feast!  There were many
kids of meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, veggies,
desserts and drinks.  We were very impressed and
ate with gusto.
Burgundy area is famous for its' wine.  We went to the "cave" for a wine tasting party.
After the wine tasting party,
we were not very hungry,
so we went back to our
room (overlooking) the
beautiful patio, with tables
decorated with fresh
flowers) and ate snacks
from our backpacks:
cheese, crackers, fruit, and
chocolate.
Beaune
In Beaune we visited Cave des Cordeliers, which
was a convent that turned into a wine storing
facility. The wine steward was superb, as was the
wine.
