When we finished touring the museums, Colleen reminded us that we were free for the afternoon to do more sight seeing and to find our way back to the hotel. Since we had been in Paris and were familiar with the transportation system some members of the group were willing to tag along with us neo-experts, to take a tour of the Luxembourg Gardens.
The strange thing about these lovely gardens, is that they have palm trees. We all know that palm trees are not able to survive the Paris climate. However, they haul these trees into storage every winter, where they are tenderly given tropical climate...so they can be brought back out in the spring time.
Outside the gardens, this little street band was drumming up donations.
This outstanding museum is located in a renovated train station. It contains a treasure trove of impressionist works. Our time there went by much too quickly.

Musee d'Orsay
Tour guide, Colleen Shaffer, proved to be well informed, not only about Paris and environs, but also about sites of beauty such as the Sainte- Chapelle Gothic cathedral, where stained glass windows triumph with light and color.

Sainte Chapelle
Those who have read the Di Vinci Code are aware of the significance of this spot in the Louvre.
One important plus of this tour was the presence of HIGH QUALITY guides, wherever we went. Second, they used "whisper systems" which allowed each of us to have earphones, so the guide did not have to shout over the crowd. At the Louvre, in Florence, and elsewhere, the guides, including Colleen, aptly guided us through the museums. There is so much to see, that it is very helpful to have guides point to, and explain, some of the very best of the very best. (Left)
