We had to wait for the cows to move on to their next pasture, as we moved up through the valley to the lift station,
where we would take the cable car to Gimmelwald (Not to be confused with Grunewald).
The bus parked at the cable car parking lot and we took the lift to
our lovely perch. This is the only way you can get to this village of
about 130 people.  We walked a few steps from the cable car to
the Gimmelwald Pension, our home for the next two nights.  This
is a big, rustic house hosted by the chef himself .  He was a
great chef and we enjoyed his masterpieces in the large dining
room on first floor.  There were also tables on the patio, where
we had drinks before dinner while viewing the Alps on all sides.
Fondue, Swiss style!
Just right for the
evening snack.

Locals remarked about
how fortunate we were
to have balmy weather
for our time in
Gimmelwald.
The next morning we were ready to take
on the day, with a trip to the top of
Shiltorn, (we were very fortunate..the
skies were clear) a long walk through the
valley, and a spectacular walk .back to
our village of Gimmelwald.
Some were not as
eager to ride the
cable car as others.
Under crystal
clear skies, we
arrive at the site
where a 007
movie was shot.

Swiss Alps - 1  Day 4, 5 and 6, May 31, June 1 and 2
As we motored into
Lauterbrunnen valley,
we were met by this
spectacular scene, a
valley right out of the
Garden of Eden.
The view from the hotel patio
included a youth hostel just below.
